2011 Arthritis Foundation Cruise-In & Classic Auto Show
July 8 & 9, 2011
Plan to return to Dublin’s Metro Center as the Central Ohio Chapter of the Arthritis Foundation invites Porsche drivers to join them for the 29th Annual Classic Auto Show & Cruise-In. This year will feature Chevrolet on its 100th Anniversary, Volkswagen on its 75th anniversary, Jaguar XKE on its 50th Anniversary, and the Ford Explorer on its 20th Anniversary. This is central Ohio’s premier car-related event – attracting more than two thousand display vehicles each year. This unique Dublin setting is perfect for a car show – with Porsche having Saturday’s prime parking area in the grass, under the trees by the pond. The Arthritis Foundation Show is being promoted as a multi-region Porsche Club of America event and thus we hope to have numerous entries from surrounding Regions.
On Saturday, July 9h, you’ll have a full day at the exciting Classic Auto Show, with 50 judged classes of automobiles on display, special Show-Within-A-Show groups and several regional events taking place. Rock ‘N’ Roll Oldies will spin all day long, followed by a fantastic live concert by Phil Dirt & the Dozers in the evening, including a dance floor in front of the stage!
Phil Dirt and The Dozers
The Arthritis Foundation of Central Ohio invites you to join Phil Dirt and The Dozers on a fabulous vintage music journey where you'll travel back in time to when life was simple, the world was a bit smaller, and the cost of a new Chevy was about $2,000.
You'll visit an era when poodle skirts, saddle shoes, and the corner drug store were all a part of the everyday life. Seem like a long time ago? It doesn't have to be!
Phil Dirt and The Dozers are a five-man national touring act that has performed for hundreds of thousands of fans for more than 20 years. Join us Saturday, July 9th as they take the stage once again at the Classic Auto Show & Cruise-In!

On Saturday the gates are open 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The judging for the Porsche Show-Within-A-Show will take place from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Judging rules will be the same as in the past few years. We will have a total of 7 Porsche classes including 4 Full Concours and 3 Show & Shine classes.
The Awards Ceremony and Parade of Champions starts at 5:00 p.m. The Best of Show Porsche award, the 1st Place winner and the two Award of Excellence winners from each of the 7 classes will be announced and receive their awards at the Porsche display area by the pond under the trees at 4:00 p.m. Also presented at that time will be the Floyd Acton Award -- given annually to a MORPCA member who best exemplifies the spirit of PCA and the friendships it creates. Last year’s winners Jim Borowske will be given a ‘keeper trophy’ as he passes the real one onto the 2011 recipient.
Contact Andy Trux at andrewtrux@cs.com for further information. PLEASE REGISTER ONLINE at www.arthritisautoshow.com. That website also has some great pictures from past years’ Arthritis Foundation Car Shows. Pre-registration deadline is July 1. All pre-registrants receive a commemorative present.
Plan also to attend the Friday, July 8th Cruise-In, which has become the largest event of its kind in Ohio. More than 1,200 street rods, muscle cars, vintage cars, European exotics and other cruisers from the 1920s to the present will make their appearance. 28-years of tradition will continue with a presentation of over 100 awesome 6-foot-high trophies to the Top Cruise-In cars. A huge variety of terrific food will be available at the concession stands, so plan to come early and spend the entire day with your family and friends, enjoying a live The Van-Dells concert in the evening!
The Van-Dells
The Van-Dells have been entertaining audiences of all ages with their unique blend of comedy, choreography and tight harmonies for over three decades. The keyword for The Van-Dells is Variety. The three vocalists all have excellent voices on their own but, bring them together and you have a sound only The Van-Dells can create.
Specializing in 50's and 60's, The Van-Dells take you on a journey back in time. They are not a band singing songs, they are a show. There is never a dull moment.
This fun, fast paced show begins in the 50's and runs through the 60's. Dressed in letter sweaters, The Van-Dells hit the stage running and never slow down with songs like "Rock This Town" and "Morse Code of Love." The audience is then taken on a nostalgic trip through the "Glitter and Gold" that makes the 60's famous. The Van-Dells are not just music; a fan once said "It's our show that makes us #1!"
We invite all of our Porsche drivers, including those not actively participating in the show, to come out to the Dublin Metro Center to enjoy plenty of lawn parking in the shade, great eats and the wonderful fellowship that is always the hallmark of the Arthritis Foundation’s Classic Auto Show & Cruise-In.
