Porsche Parade Express &
Tail of the Dragon
Saturday June 28th – July
1st
No time, money or vacation days for a full week of Porsche
Parade in Charlotte this year?
Gerhard Hillmann, our intrepid activities chairman, is
putting together a four day road trip full of fun and
adventure to this year’s Porsche Parade in (relatively)
nearby Charlotte, North Carolina.
We will be departing central Ohio at 8:00am on Saturday
morning and taking the scenic route through beautiful
southern Ohio to pick up I-77 in West Virginia. Traveling the
winding interstate at speed through the mountains and tunnels
of West Virginia is some of the best interstate driving east
of the Mississippi. We will stop along the way for lunch and
scenic points of interest and should arrive in Charlotte in
time for happy hour. A group of Carolina Region PCA folks
will meet us for drinks and conversation at one of the local
watering holes.
Stay at the Downtown Charlotte Westin, the Howard Johnson or,
do as you did in college and sleep in your car. The trip is
what you decide to make it.
Sunday we will spend the day on the streets of downtown
Charlotte, enjoying the widest array of Porsches you may ever
see, at the concours d’elegance.
Monday morning we head west on the Blue Ridge Parkway on our
way to the legendary, “Tail of the Dragon” in Deal’s Gap
Tennessee and overnight in Knoxville.
We will depart Tuesday morning and be home in the early
afternoon to regale our friends and family with tales of how
we slayed (or were slain) by the Dragon and of all the
wonderful cars and adventures we had seen.
