February Board Meeting

Motion made by Gerhard with a second from Ron to waive the reading of the last Board meeting minutes.

David read a correspondence about buying pylons. Jim Rybak obtained an incredibly low bid for 150 pylons for $850. Gerhard would check where to recycle the discarded ones. These pylons nearly fill our storage area and are marked with tire tread and holes from being dragged under the cars. How anyone can run over bright orange cones is beyond me! Jim Rybak will be contacted on stenciling MORPCA’s name on them so we don’t lose them at an event. How can you lose a large orange pylon is once again beyond my comprehension.

Frank Todaro has put together a 30-page driver education (DE) document for members interested in participating in their first DE. We dubbed it DE for Dummies. A recommendation was made to post it on the web site. A copy was sent to all Board members for editing. Please send corrections to Frank by next month.

PC Racing News does not mention our Club Race (CR) in May. Mid-Ohio Road Course does not get us information or a contract in time for us to be timely. Next year we’ll make a good guess for the CR and DE dates at Mid-Ohio and file it with PC Racing News anyway.

No Treasurer’s report for January, Mike is on vacation.

Club Race: Jay reported the Club Race is moving along on schedule, slow start, but moving nicely now.

Membership: Ginny reports membership up by six. That brings our membership to a total of us to 830. We ran out of The Porsche Family Tree booklets at the January New Members dinner (boy, was that a great event.) She recommends buying 20 more. Ginny also needs money to mail membership directory.

Jim Mudro has set up a spring technical inspection clinic at MAG for April. He is working with Byers for a similar event in May, just before our DE and CR.

Newsletter: Tom is contacting Mike Stoner to look for a paper trail for two advertisers who are not up to date on payments. We need to get items in to Tom and Brian Peterson (Web Master) the first Monday after a board meeting.

Activities:
*First Breakfast Club- February 10, Bob Evans, Dublin, across from MAG.
*Taj Ma Garaj- 42 people registered can fit up to 60.
*DE- May 15-16, Club Race May 17-18, 2008
*Wine Tasting-April 12 at 7 pm at Haus Frau Haven in German Village at a cost of $37 dollars per person. This includes wine tasting and heavy hors d’oeuvres.
*Southern Ohio driving tour- May 3, Inns at Cedar Falls
*Porsche Parade in Charlotte, NC- June 28-July 3. March 11 is the beginning of the lottery to register. David will send something to Tom about Porsche Parade. The Porsche Parade web site is also up and running. Gerhard is looking at getting together a caravan to leave on Saturday morning, June 28, and come back on Tuesday, June 31, and driving the Tail of the Dragon on the way home. People could overnight in Knoxville, TN. Board will ask Brian to make a link to Parade web site.
*P2O- July 26, 2008. There are still hotels in the area of Oxford, OH, just not at the Elms. Sorry for any misunderstandings.
*Christmas party December 6-La Scala in Dublin. Cost will be similar to that of the ‘07 party.

Hey, where’s Dime a Dog? That’s one of my favorites, Gerhard!

Web Site- Ask Brian to send report of data from web site, hits, etc.

Brice Kadel wants to give up Concours chair to devote more time to P2O. Anyone interested in taking over for Brice?

Metro Center in Dublin is not letting Arthritis Foundation do the car show this year. They are searching for a new location.

Frank Todaro is investigating DE insurance for personal coverage while we participate in DEs. One company, Century Insurance is evaluating coverage. They are collecting data about track events, track incidents, and number of PCA members who would be interested in purchasing special coverall while participating in a DE.

Round table discussion- David and Jay are attending the Zone 4 Region meeting in Toledo on March 15. The main topic of conversation will be DE. David is collecting questions, concerns, etc to present at the meeting.

Karen is looking for items to sell at the Goodie Store. Ideas generated were: long sleeved cotton and denim shirts, sweatshirts, window stickers, jacket patches, grill badges, and dash plaques. Send your ideas to Karen by email.

9:11 Marsha declares a perfect time for the meeting to be over, seconded by Jay Koehler.

Respectfully submitted by the first lady of MORPCA, and the interim secretary for this meeting only,

Marsha Hayden

Disclaimer: These notes are for the expressed use of MORPCA and cannot be criticized for any typos, spelling, or grammatical errors. I would also like to express my apology to Brian Peterson for misspelling his name in the Christmas article and for offending Andy Trux with any grammatical errors in same said article. Now that I have this out of the way, I will begin the minutes of this month’s Board meeting.
