IMMKE CONCOURS BENEFITS A GREAT CAUSE

The Twenty-Fifth Annual Arthritis Foundation Classic Auto Show & Cruise-In honoring Len Immke took place on Friday July 6 and Saturday July 7. On Friday there was a ‘cruise-in’ that attracted over 1000 cars with an evening concert by Elvis impersonator ??????. On Saturday, there was a concours that also set a new attendance record with over 1200 cars staged on the Metro Place North grounds in Dublin. Saturday evenings crowd was entertained by Phil Dirt and the Dozers.
Throughout Saturday, more than sixty Porsches adorned the show area at the entrance to the event. With a pond serving as a unique background, and trees for shade; Mid-Ohio Region PCA can be proud of its presence at the Twenty-Fifth Annual Arthritis Foundation Car Show honoring Len Immke.

The annual presentation of the Floyd Acton Award was made to Rob & Brenda Ellis by Milton Scott who chaired the MORPCA portion of the Immke Show. Rob and Brenda have been actively involved in both the 356 registry and MORPCA for many years – showing their pristine 1964 356 Convertible D literally all over the country. They are also active volunteers for many MORPCA activities.

Several MOR members are actively involved in the Immke Show: Andy Trux co-chairs the show with responsibility for show logistics; Jim Borowske is on the executive committee for the show, is the donor who provided the great duffle bags that each participant received, and he is also responsible for obtaining some of the major sponsors; and Freddie Rieser of Rieser Trophy Co. who provide all of the trophies for both days of the event.

The 2007 show raised over $267,000 and netted $192,000 for the Arthritis Foundation, Central Ohio Chapter. Money raised from the Auto Show supports programs and services for people living with arthritis - the #1 cause of disability in the U.S.A. Services include educational programs and materials, exercise classes, financial assistance for medication and durable medical equipment, occupational therapy assessments and camp and family programs for children living with arthritis. In addition, money is raised for research that will find a cure for the more than 100 types of arthritis.

Mid-Ohio Region again presented the Arthritis Foundation with a $2,000 donation, bringing our total for this organization to $22,000 over the 11 years MOR has been involved with the show. The Arthritis Foundation recognized MORPCA for their more than a decade of support with an award accepted by MORPCA President Dave Hayden.
