TRG HEADS TO MONTREAL SEEKING FIFTH GRAND-AM GT-CLASS
WIN OF ‘07

Calif., (August 1, 2007) – Team
TRG looks to add to its series-leading four GT-class
wins when the Grand-Am Rolex Series presented by Crown
Royal Special Reserve competes at the Circuit
Gilles-Villeneuve in Montreal, Canada on Friday, August
3rd
during
Round 11 of the 2007 schedule.
TRG
has dominated the mid-season part of the 13-race ‘07
schedule, posting four GT-class wins in the past seven
races, including victories at Laguna Seca, Watkins
Glen, Mid-Ohio and Iowa Speedway. In addition to
the win streak, the California-based team also posted a
strong second-place finish at the most recent Rolex
Series event two weeks ago in Alabama and stands third
in the Team Points Championship - just three points out
of the lead.
For TRG to continue its climb up the championship points ladder it must overcome some unique circumstances in Montreal - including that none of the team’s four drivers has ever raced on the 2.71-mile, 15-turn Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve road course. Add to the mix a limited event schedule of only two days and the fact that the GT-class cars will share a crowded race track with the Daytona Prototype (DP) cars.
Equal to the challenge however, is the TRG No. 66 CRG/Maxter Porsche GT3 driven by RJ Valentine and Andy Lally. The duo of Valentine and Lally has posted all four TRG wins this season and a total of six top-two finishes to sit third in the Driver Points Championship, only eight points out of first-place.
Rounding out the team’s two-car line-up is the No. 65 TRG 500FastCash Porsche GT3 of driver teammates Scott Tucker and Ed Zabinski. Tucker and Zabinski have run several races for TRG this season and have proven to be very competitive, including their last outing at Iowa Speedway where they came from 14th on the starting grid to post a strong eighth-place finish.
“We’re going in to this weekend with high expectations and a lot of excitement,” said TRG team owner Kevin Buckler. “With two races left on the schedule TRG is definitely in the hunt for the championship again, but it’s going to be tough. All the teams are running really well and TRG will really have to be on its game to come out on top. It’s exciting to run at the Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve for the first time and having Scott and Ed back for this race will be great.
Adding to this weekend’s excitement is that TRG will be making its first appearance in a NASCAR Busch Series event with lead driver Andy Lally behind the wheel. TRG founder Kevin Buckler has partnered with Wood Brothers/JTG Racing to field the No. 47 Clorox/TRG Ford Fusion when the Busch Series takes to Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve on Saturday, August 4th and also for the ZIPPO 200 at Watkins Glen on August 11th.
“As everybody knows, I’ll be staying an extra day for TRG’s NASCAR debut with Andy driving in the Busch race on Saturday,” said Buckler. “This is going to be a big weekend for us.”
Coverage of the Grand-Am event from Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve will be provided by SPEED Channel on a tape delayed basis starting at 8 p.m. EDT on Friday, August 3rd.
